Showdown in Mudbug (Ghost-in-Law Mystery/Romance Book 3)
Family can be the death of you…..
Who killed Helena Henry? The shorter list may be who didn’t want her dead.
Psychic Raissa Bordeaux thought she’d left her former life behind, hidden away in her eclectic shop in the French Quarter. But when a child is kidnapped and Helena Henry appears, Raissa risks her true identity by offering the police help with the case.
New Orleans Detective Zach Blanchard doesn’t believe in psychic hooey and is certain Raissa didn’t get her facts about the case from a crystal ball. He suspects her of something besides being the most intriguing and attractive woman he’s ever come across.
But when Raissa’s secrets put her in danger, can Zach convince her to trust him with the truth before it’s too late?

Jana DeLeon Does It Again
Where has this gal been hiding for so long? She is absolutely one of the best writers I've come across in a long, long, time. Her stories are creative, engaging, with well developed characters and places so you come to know and love (and detest) the good (and bad) characters and feel for their circumstances. I'm not sure why she is lumped into the "Romance Novel" category, because her ability as a detective story writer is second to none. I was devastated when we lost Robert Parker, but here comes Jana, with even a bit of occult thrown in. What a kick! She is funny, interesting, exciting, and engaging. You owe it to yourself to check this and all of her other novels out. You never knew Louisiana like this. A big pair of thumbs up for a great novelist!
Great fun!
I really didn't think I would love these books. But I do. I got the first one for free and found the cozy mystery with a romance attached struck the right balance to be a fun, quick read. The main characters (Maryse, Sabine, and Raissa) are interesting women. Helena is a hilarious side-kick; she's like the crankier ghostly version of Lula from the Stephanie Plum books. Anyway, learning more about the mysterious Raissa was fun and watching her be such a badass was even better. These are great books if you're looking for a fun read with both supernatural and romance elements.
Psychic, suspense and our friendly mother in law ghost
Book 3 of the Ghost in law series: Psychic Raissa Bordeaux of New Orleans is willing to risk her life to find the child abductor of the granddaughter, Melissa of the Mayor of New Orleans. Ms. Bordeaux left her former life behind, when she arrived in New Orleans and has been hiding away in her psychic shop in the French Quarter. Ms. Bordeaux goes to the police department and meets Detective Zach Blanchard, and informs him she may have information that would lead to finding Melissa. Being a complete skeptic of anything he doesn’t understand suspects Raissa of knowing more than she told and part of the kidnapping. Just as Raissa begins to look into details from her FBI files on other child abduction, enter Helena Henry, the mother in law ghost from the other books. In this story Helena does a lot to help find information on the abductor and with time Detective Blanchard begins to realize that Riassa’s life is in danager and can he find the abductor and who is threating Riassa before it’s too late. What I really liked about this book is the other characters you have been introduced to in book 1 and 2 are also part of this book. It’s hard to write more of a review because you will begin to give too much of the story line away. Just to say, it’s just as great as the other two books.
Beware of Helena
The Mudbug Series are delightful. You have a little of everything in them..Each book is a delight to pick-up where the last one ended...Helena just keeps changing her crazy outfits to fit her mood. She is one crazy loon and is a ghost on top of it. You don't want Helena popping up around you, you could possibly be the next one to close to dying.....
Super fun books
I’ve loved all this series so far, but I believe “Showdown in Mudbug” is my favorite so far. Extremely complicated, detailed & very surprising to the marvelous ending. I am thrilled to have still more of this series to read! Already bought all 6 with the hope Ms DeLeon will write more of them for us to laugh & tear up over.
The Mudbug series by Jana DeLeon is a great read!
It was a good book, but I preferred the first book in this series. Trouble in Mudbug had me hooked, so naturally I had to read the others. While I still enjoyed this book, the characters, and the plot, the original set the bar high. I will say the author created some wit, humor, suspense, and romance all in one read, which is fantastic and talent on paper. I really enjoy the multidimensions of each character and the twist thrown in to keep the suspense going. If you are looking for an easy, engaging, summer read, this is a great series to start.
Not her best writing
I purchased three different titles of this Ghost-in-Law Series based on having read and enjoyed three titles of her other series. I refuse to purchase anymore of the G-in-L due to the obvious formulaic structure; poor editing by the author; erratic characterization of the ghost; forced humor and general all-around poor writing. These appear to be self-published books so I put all the blame on the author. Don't waste your money on the G-in-L series.
From beginning to end you will be entertained I promise!
I love all of her books and once I start reading I don’t even want to put it down to go to sleep at night until I am finished. I wish I didn’t let read so fast! All of her books are funny and entertaining as well as heartwarming. You’ll never regret buying any of her books I guarantee.
Showdown in Mudbug
Showdown in Mudbug is the last of the Mudbug/Ghost-in-law trilogy that I purchased from Amazon. As with the first two, the story is fun to read . The language as I mentioned earlier is edgy, and the one obligtory sexual contact is rather warm! As you read you begin to like the ghost despite her annoying ways. This third book tells the story of the third lady(a fake psychic) who solves a mystery and meets the love of her life. As you read you will recognize the familiar story form, but you will still be surprised by the plot. Not only that, but you'll discover new facts about the Mother-in-law and who murdered her. There was a hint given in one of the earlier stories, but you may or may not have caught it or remember it. Read the final book with tongue in cheek and one eye closed. Easy to read; easy to swallow, easy to digest. Try it ,you'll probably like it, but read books 1 and 2 first.
Showdown in Mudbug
Running hiding from the FBI and a criminal element . She gets involved with trying to solve a kidnapping of a young girl. She went to the local police to try to help give them some info and insite to the crime. After telling them a story of how she got the info they thought she was a joke. Read the interesting story of how things got worse.
